We know that you are used to going to the O2 to listen to your favourite singer or to watch the ATP finals. However, in this post we will take you right on top of this iconic arena!
The O2 climb
Dare to experience urban mountaineering with an invigorating trip up one of London’s most iconic landmarks. Up at The O2 is a day out with a difference and offers adventurous spirits an unforgettable and exhilarating 90-minute climb. The unique journey to the peak of the world-renowned entertainment venue rewards you with spectacular 360 degree panoramic views across the capital, where you can take in the sights of all the famous landmarks London has to offer including the city, the Gherkin and the River Thames.
Dressed in full explorer attire, you will conquer the heights and soak up the sights, with an experienced guide on hand to talk you through every step across the 350m walkway. There is a tremendous sense of achievement when you reach the top of the viewing platform, which sits 52m from ground level.
Our view
The O2 climb is an experience that not many Londoners are aware about. The climb is really challenging, but at the same time very rewarding. The view over the city is amazing, and the fact that you are probably standing above some really famous celebrities gives you an even greater sense of achievement. Our suggestion would be to pick a sunny day for the climb, or even better a nice sunset, in order to have a better view over the city and really savour this experience. Feeling scared? Don’t be! There is absolutely no chance of falling down as they have really strict security measures. Plus, there will always be an experienced member of the staff helping you get to the top and to enjoy the climb. Our guide Nathan told us a lot of interesting anecdotes about the O2, some regarding the iconic James Bond movie scene from ‘The World is not Enough’, which was filmed right next to where we were standing. In our opinion, this is an absolute must and well worth the effort of getting to the summit!
