Did you know that 95% of the textiles that end up in landfill could be recycled?
Sustainability is one of the biggest topics of our time and we are always looking out for initiatives that help prevent waste and do some good to our planet. That is why it is a pleasure to have partnered with H&M for their Garment Recycling Collection Program.

The H&M Garment Recycling programme is a global initiative that works to prevent customers’ unwanted clothes and textiles from going to landfill. You can bring in unwanted clothes from any brand and in any condition, and all H&M stores across the UK & IE have at least one Garment Recycling box which means that they are offering over 260 recycling points across the country.
We brought ours in at the flagship store on Regent Street, and we were given a £5 voucher to use towards our next purchase of £25 of more (1 voucher is given for every bag of recycling handed in!).
More about Garment Recycling at H&M
In 2018 H&M collected more than 20,000 tonnes of customers unwanted clothes & textiles – that’s the equivalent of over 100 million t-shirts and their goal is to collect 25,000 tonnes per year by next year (2020).
They partner with I:CO – a textile sorting and recycling company- to recycle customers clothes and textiles in one of three ways:
Re-wear – clothing that can be worn again is sold to the second-hand market
Re-use – clothes that cannot be worn again can be turned into other products like car insulation and cleaning cloths
Recycle – everything else is turned into textile fibres
0% of the clothes H&M collects go to landfill.
The H&M Garment Recycling Programme is not a money-making initiative – any surplus funds generated are donated to The British Red Cross.
H&M’s Garment Recycling programme is just one of many ways that we are working towards a more sustainable fashion future. Find out all the details in the latest H&M Group Sustainability Report.
