This Bank Holiday weekend we had the privilege of staying at the beautiful Corinthia Hotel London, situated in the heart of London and ranked as one of the best 5 star luxury hotels of the city. Here we had the opportunity of trying their amazing Northall restaurant, their number 1 spa in the UK and much much more.
The Corinthia Hotel London
Corinthia Hotel London is one of London’s finest 5 star luxury hotels, and is located in the heart of the city, where it is the epicentre for the worlds of art, culture, business and politics. Housed within a Victorian building, the hotel features 294 rooms, including 40 suites and 7 penthouses, offering sweeping views across London’s most popular landmarks. This hotel is created by experts with a passion for craftsmanship and an understanding of world-class service. Corinthia London is the ninth of Corinthia Hotels’ collection of five-star hotels founded by the Pisano family of Malta.
lluminated by a spectacular ‘Full Moon’ chandelier, which was created by Parisian designer Chafik Gasmi and produced by prestigious French crystal manufacturer Baccarat, the Lobby Lounge is a sanctuary from the bustle of the city, providing guests with a tranquil and graceful ambience for an afternoon tea.
Our Stay
Our Executive Room with cityscape views of London was warm and welcoming and the Hypnos bed ensured a dreamy night’s sleep.
Amenities included a Nespresso machine, robe and slippers with a welcome platter of fresh fruit. There was also a separate area with spacious walk in closet. Everything was set up for a nice and relaxing afternoon.
The marble bathroom had double sinks and, under-floor heating and, of course, ESPA beauty products. The large bathtub had a built-in plasma TV screen – perfect for a relaxing bubbly bliss. There also was a separate tropical ‘rainforest’ shower with additional hand-held shower and a number of white soft towels. You don’t see many bathtubs like this around, and we were really tempted to spend our whole stay relaxing in the tub.
Dinner time: The Northall restaurant
Led by Culinary Director Garry Hollihead, The Northall celebrates the Great British Kitchen, showcasing its British culinary strengths. The breath-taking dining room sees plush burnt orange leather offset by glittering mirrored panels and expansive picture windows! The Northall Bar, featuring a marble island, offers the epitome of chic in London and is the ideal place to meet for a glass of Champagne, wine or beer, or to sip an aperitif or classic cocktail; and offers an all-day light lunch and dinner menu for the casual diner.
We decided to start off with a nice cocktail and glass of champagne, and in the meantime we ordered our food.
The Severn and Wye Loch Var Smoked Salmon, served with Capers and Lemon was amazing. You could really taste the quality of the fresh food, and it was served in a very appealing way.
The Octopus and Jersey Royal Salad with Compressed Celery and Pickled Shallots was also a tasty treat. This dinner has started really well!
Every main was very appealing, and it took us a long time to decide what to order. We honestly wanted to try everything!
In the end, we went for the Grilled Native Lobster Served with Roast Garlic Bernaise and in Chips and for the 250g Fillet Served with Grilled Portobello Mushrooms,Tomatoes and a choice of Sauce. The Lobster was amazing and the fillet was very tender. Our only regret was only ordering the half lobster, as it was so nice and we would have not minded eating the whole thing! Don’t make our same mistake when you will dine at this restaurant.
Breakfast in bed
One of the best features of our stay was surely the complementary breakfast we received in the morning. We were way too lazy to get up and go to the restaurant, so we called the reception and asked if we could have it in bed! We ordered an English Breakfast with Freshly Squeezed Juice, Cappuccinos, toasts and Freshly Baked croissants. After that, it was time to relax again, so we had another bath and headed off to the SPA.
ESPA’s Life Spa
ESPA’s Life Spa is arranged over four heavenly floors of bliss and features no less than 17 treatment rooms in an atmosphere of tranquillity and relaxation. Soothing smells and sounds wrap guests in an aura of serenity and calm. You can find a steam room or vitality pool before heading to the sauna followed by a wake-up call at the ice fountain. By now you’ve earned a facial or massage and to round off all that hard work take a nap on a marble heated lounger or more privately in an individual sleep pod.
The heated indoor pool on the thermal floor is set aside for adults only outside of the children’s hours of 10 to 11.30am and 3-4.30pm ensuring a peaceful swim. Super-active juices and light, nutritious refreshments are served in the spa café.
We had the privilege of using UKs number 1 Spa and we were not disappointed. We started by relaxing in their swimming pool and then headed off to the steam room. After that, we headed to the hydro-massage and we really wore off all the accumulated stress that this city brings at times.
Corinthia Hotel London is perfect for a London city break situated just steps away from Trafalgar Square, Westminster, Covent Garden and the West End theatres. Even if you don’t want to spend the night, it is a really great place for an afternoon tea, dinner or even just for breakfast. The experience at the spa is truly amazing, and if you are thinking of a perfect gift for your parter or for a special friend, you should definitely book a session in this amazing facility. Any excuse is a good excuse to go to the Corinthia London Hotel!
