When visiting London, experimenting the typical Afternoon Tea is a must! Don’t hesitate to try this special and traditional experience just because of the warmer weather. Who says that Afternoon Teas are suitable only for wintertime? We absolutely love them, and hot temperatures will not stop us from eating delicious sandwiches and desserts while drinking English Tea. Here there are our favourite Summery Afternoon Tea in London.
The Petersham
This lovely restaurant in the heart of London is one of the gorgeous venues managed by Petersham Nurseries. Located inside Floral court (Covent Garden), it is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon, feeling far away from the city chaos, even in such a central location. Their Afternoon tea is possibly one of the most summery and flowery we have ever tried! All the sweet treats are delicious, colourful and beautiful. The scones (a must in every Afternoon Tea) are warm and fluffy, the savoury finger food is so intriguing and tasty. Don’t forget to try their rose Bellini, it’s so refreshing!
Swan, Shakespeare’s Globe
If you want to spend the afternoon breathing a Shakespearian atmosphere, the swan is the place to go. Their Afternoon Tea is inspired by the worldwide known Shakespearian comedy “A midsummer night’s dream”. Located next to the Globe Theatre, the Swan offers an amazing view on the Thames and, especially, on St. Paul’s Cathedral. It is impossible to resist the inviting desserts and sandwiches. Everything, from drinks to food, is even tastier when eaten with such a beautiful view.
Brigit’s Bakery
We had the incredible pleasure of having Afternoon Tea on the top deck of a double-decker bus while admiring London’s beauties and monuments. This experience is undoubtedly a great chance to conciliate an exhaustive and panoramic city tour with a typical and appealing Afternoon Tea. The food offer is varied and interesting, from spinach cakes to small custard tarts and scones. If you are looking for a special and unique way of enjoying London life and living British traditions, this is a perfect way.
Pret a Portea at The Berkley
This beautiful hotel in Knightsbridge is known for proposing the most stylish and fashionable Afternoon Tea. This season’s Pret a Portea at The Berkley is dedicated to Christian Dior. The sweet treats are designed according to the famous landmark masterpieces produced by Dior. All the sandwiches and the lovely biscuits are not only marvellous to see, but also delicious and flavourful. Eating small bakes shaped as bags and shoes in such a pretty atmosphere is really an unforgettable experience!
