Sometimes, all you need is to escape to a private chalet in the middle of The Alps and switch off for a few days, right?
So, that is exactly what we did last December, when Preferred Hotels & Resorts invited us to their stunning private chalet Ultima Crans Montana in the alpine region of Valais in Switzerland.
The Hotel
Nestled at 1,600m, this beautiful property has two chalets that can only be rented as a whole and includes a dreamy outdoor, heated swimming pool, large sauna, steam room, gym and an outdoor jacuzzi.

One of the main features of Ultima Crans Montana has to be the staff and in-house dining team. They are friendly, discreet and happy to help 24/7, which means that in you fancy some champagne while enjoying the outdoor jacuzzi at 3am – well – that is absolutely possible!
Also, the in-house chefs are fantastic and always available, which means you will never be left hungry, whether you fancy a late in-room breakfast or a midnight snack.
Outdoors activities
Ultima Crans Montana boasts some of the most breathtaking views of the region, which means that you will be dying to get out of the chalet and explore. The property has its own skying instructors, meaning you will not be placed in a large group of people if you fancy some lessons.
In our time at the property we went on a stunning trecking experience (so tiring but so rewarding!), skiing of course and to a restaurant high up in the mountains on a snowplough!
Indoors activities
After a day spent hiking, all you really need is a heated outdoor pool, a sauna and a steam room, right?
Ultima Crans Montana’s wellness centre literally has everything you need to relax and switch off with its luxurious facilities. You can even get yourself a nice massage, or go for some sunrise yoga (if it’s your thing!).
We ended our little escape with a winter outdoor bonfire (yep, it’s a thing!) with the lovely staff, which we can’t thank enough for this incredible holiday in the most dreamy location.
