We bet you have seen this hotel millions of times on Instagram because of its beautiful facade and lovely tones. We also know that you are also craving to see the insides. In this post we will talk about our experience at the Charlotte Street Hotel.
Charlotte Street Hotel is situated in the media neighbourhood just north of Soho. It is a minute’s walk from leafy Soho Square and the theatre district, within easy reach of the financial centre and is surrounded by some of London’s best bars, restaurants and cafes.
The Film Club
When we arrived at the hotel, we were welcomed to their own private cinema. Here we watched an all time classic, “Thelma & Louise“, while enjoying some lovely complementary pop corn.
Oscar Bar & Restaurant
We were still upset about how the film had just ended, but it was time to eat as we had grown hungry. The restaurant was really modern and colourful, and, as it was Friday night, it was full of people sipping cocktails. Our waiter Dali was really welcoming and friendly, and made us really feel at home. There was a really wide range of cocktails and drinks to choose from, and we really did not know where to start, so Dali helped us out. We ordered 2 glasses of Moët while waiting for our spiced semolina crusted squid with lemon aioli and
ham hock and guinea fowl terrine with Oscar piccalilli, toasted sourdough.
The starters were excellent, and Dali told us that the chef is originally from Australia and specialised in Oriental food. Therefore, we decided to go for the warm sticky pork belly with nam jim, Asian slaw and toasted peanuts and Lebanese style spelt and chick peas with aubergine, pomegranate and yoghurt.
We also ordered some cocktails, as they looked so beautiful on the bar and on the tables around us. We had a “Lemon La Vida Loca”, made out of Limoncello and Stoli Vanil Vodka and a Soho Sensation, made out of Finlandia vodka, Passoa , Chambord, raspberries and passion fruit.
Almost full and kind of tipsy, it was time for dessert. We ordered the rum baba, caramelised peaches and cinnamon crème fraiche, pistachio syrup and the
blueberry frangipane tart with lemon sorbet.
Our View
We were really curious to see the insides of the Charlotte Street Hotel, as its facade is so inviting. We weren’t disappointed. The atmosphere was amazing and the cocktails were top notch. In addition, if you are really into Oriental food and spices, you definitely need to try the Oscar restaurant. All in all, if you are looking to spend a fancy and fun Friday night right next to the action in Centre London, we would definitely recommend the Friday Night Film Club at the Charlotte Street Hotel.
