In this interview we meet the super chic Nathan from @therollinsonlondon, have a look at what he has to share with us!
1.Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Nathan, a luxury lifestyle blogger and the man behind The Rollinson London. I have been on Instagram for two years now. It all started as a hobby with simple, everyday photography that gradually developed into a passion for luxury lifestyle photography. Instagram opened up lots of doors to bigger things. I blog about all things beauty, fashion and travel as I appreciate the finer things in life. You can find out more at www.therollinson.london
2. Where do you live in London and what do you like/dislike about that area?
I live in Barnes, near Richmond, which has a country feel in a big city. I like it as I get the best of both worlds. I love the local vibe where I get to meet a lot of people from the community and I also enjoy the wonderful independent retail outlets, as well as the coffee shops and their delicious cakes!
3. If you could choose one place in London to live in, what would it be?
This is a tricky question as I do not originate from London; I was born in Cambridge and grew up in Birmingham. I moved to London around 8 years ago which was a big step forward for me at the time. During my many trips to various boroughs, I have discovered that my favourite places to visit are Notting Hill and Chelsea. You are spoilt for choice, with the rows of pretty doors and immaculate houses. However, secretly I would love to live in the Mews. The abundance of flowers makes it a very Instagram-worthy sight!
4. What restaurants would you recommend?
Oh, there’s so many good ones to choose from, it would be nearly impossible to fit them all in this interview. I would recommend Park Chinois in Mayfair. It’s a Chinese restaurant which brings you back to the 1930’s Shanghai glamour. The choices of food for lunch and dinner are spectacular, especially the dim sum and the duck. It’s not just the food that makes it so great; you get to dine and dance to jazz music. Also, Park Chinois offers a unique afternoon tea experience that you must try.
5. Where do you like going out on a weekend?
I tend to spend most of my time in and around London during the week and escape during the weekend to a variety of places throughout England. I do stay in London sometimes too. Occasionally, I get to visit Columbia Road Market to see plenty colourful flowers, Richmond for a casual stroll, Petersham Nurseries for an amazing lunch or, of course, Notting Hill.
6. If you could choose to have one superpower, what would it be and how would you use it in London?
Easy! I would love to have the power to be invisible, a bit like Harry Potter when he puts on his invisibility cloak, just so I could sneak into any of the pretty houses that I see. I am sure they are as tastefully designed on the inside, as they are on the outside.
7. Are there any hidden gems you know about that you would like to share?
London is full of them. My advice is to just lose yourself in the city and you are bound to stumble on many hidden gems in London, just like I do. One place I would recommend is Sketch. It’s quite mysterious on the outside, though you ought to find out what is hidden inside…
8. If you could change 3 things about London, what would they be?
I would love to see accessibility improved on public transport, where there are some sort of written subtitles/translations during important announcements. A weekend spanning from Friday to Monday introduced would be amazing. I would like to see all the sixties-style flats knocked down, they are such an eyesore.
9. Other than London, is there any other city in the world you think is a must? Why?
Well, first of all, I love Paris as it has so many ‘tres chic’ styles, but I couldn’t help thinking of Prague as well. It is much prettier with it’s unique style. Portofino, in Italy, is another place I would recommend.
