During the Christmas period, it has become a tradition to create the most beautiful festive afternoon tea in town, and that is why the past weekend we decided to try the one at Claridge’s hotel.
The first thing that strikes you about Claridge’s during the Christmas period is how beautiful the decorations are. You arrive in front of the hotel and you just can’t stop staring at their elegance, and they make you wonder if the ones inside are even prettier. We really needed an excuse to check out the insides, and a festive afternoon tea was the perfect one.
We had great expectations and were actually quite excited. We hadn’t made any research and resisted visiting their social media as we wanted to see them with our own eyes for the first time. And that is why we were so amazed when we found ourselves in front of an enchanted forest within the lobby of the hotel. The forest has been designed by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson, and we can say that they did a great job of it.
After taking way too many pictures, it was time for our afternoon tea. The atmosphere was really cozy and festive, and it took us straight into the Christmas spirit. The menu is also so chic and gives you a great variety of choices.
The pastries and the teas were absolutely delicious, and we really recommend the lemongrass flavour, a smooth and rich herbal infusion with the flavour of lemon drops grown in Sri Lanka. I think we had two refills of that one!
With our bellies full, we relaxed listening to the lovely weekend chorus they have set up singing Christmas carols in the foyer. You have to believe us, they are the absolute cutest thing in the world!
It was unfortunately time to go, so we took a few more pictures of the enchanted forest (because we hadn’t taken enough already) and left for a nice walk in Mayfair.
