In this post we will be reviewing our stay at The Sanderson, a vibrant hotel in Central London.
The hotel
The Sanderson is positioned in the heart of London’s West End, and offers a retreat from the bustle of the city. The landmarked 1950s building has been transformed by Philippe Starck into a smart luxurious hotel, with newly renovated rooms concepted by designer Tim Andreas of Banjo. Guests can have some cocktails in the modern Long Bar , which provides an intimate space for cocktails and conversation. The hotel is just steps from Oxford Street shopping and the Soho district in London and is ideally located for weekend breaks or business travel.
Our stay
We stayed at The Sanderson on a Saturday as we wanted to live at full the young vibrant atmosphere we had heard about so much. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived as they were at high occupancy that day, so there was a slight delay for our check-in. We took advantage of the waiting time to have a tour around the hotel, which gave us straight away the impression of being very lively and modern. The long bar looked absolutely amazing and we couldn’t wait to go for drinks once we had settled into our room.
Our room was very spacious and the deco very modern and in line with the fun and lively atmosphere of the hotel. It is the ideal setting for a nice bottle of champagne before going out for the evening.
We were really tempted to order something to drink in the room as it was so cosy, but we were really curious to see if the bar lived up to its expectations.
We had booked a table outside beforehand as we had been told that it gets really busy on weekends, so we would suggest for you to do that too. We were seated in the Courtyard, and the atmosphere was brought to life by Sanderson’s residents DJs.
All the cocktails on the menu looked really tempting, but we were in the mood for something sweet, so we went for the Tropical Caipiroska – made of Belvedere vodka, passoa, passionfruit, lime and mango – and the Sucette – a mix of Belvedere raspberry vodka, strawberry and passionfruit.
After these delicious cocktails, we decided it was time to grab some food. It was really handy having Oxford Street nearby, which meant that we were in walking distance from many excellent restaurants.
After a pleasant night out in the area and a very relaxing sleep (the beds are so comfortable!), we couldn’t wait to have breakfast in our room.
Our English breakfasts were excellent and the waiter was so kind when we realised that we had ordered something by mistake, and even though we said we would pay for it he didn’t include it in our bill.
Bags packed, time to go home. Our stay at The Sanderson hotel was all in all really enjoyable, and we can say that it is an excellent hotel in the centre for a weekend break, full of young people really having fun within a very positive atmosphere.
